#michael_beshoar #dick_wooton #alcohol ## The Phonographic Sphygmograph. pg. We were last evening shown, through the courtesy of Dr. M. Beshoar, a new and wonderful little surgical instrument just perfected, called the phonographic sphygmograph. The use of this instrument, to the average reader, is, perhaps, unknown. It was invented to give a practical knowledge of the beating of the pulse of the human system, and for the detection of the true condition of the blood. With a delicate needle it traces upon a dark plate the beating of the pulse, and in reality, writes out in sound-waves the murmurs of the heart. Any default in the arterial workings of the body is, at a glance, detected and accurately, to. This is the first one ever introduced into this country, and is to be used in the doctor's practice, and will prove a great help to him. Mr. Beshoar is to take the little "machine" to the meeting of the State Medical Association to be held at Colorado Springs next Tuesday, and will there show it to the fraternity, with a view of getting them to introduce the sphygmograph into their practice. Will wonders never cease? --- Pure Wine - The News is under obligations to Uncle Dick Wooton for samples of California wine, and good old apple brandy, which is calculated to make even Hatfield forsake his blue ribbon. We do not drink spirituous or malt liquors - or at least "hardly ever," but when we do we like to imbibe the "pure vitriol," the same as Uncle Dick imports for the use of himself and friends. ![[trinidad-daily-1879-05-25-beshoar-device-wooton-spirits.pdf]]
