GOLD. - Some of our enterprising inhabitants have been out prospecting a little of late in the environs of Fisher's Peak and the mountains adjoining to town on the south, and have discovered what to them seems certain indications of gold. We have not learned as yet what is the nature or extent of this gold deposit, but believe the precious metal is found in the shape of dust. No nuggets as large as eggs have as yet been brought in. What more do we want to make our vicinity famous for mineral deposits? Coal, iron, lead, copper, have already been discovered not far from town, and now he probability of gold existing in our vicinity is about to add the finishing touch to our reputation abroad.
